High school writers! Would you like to spend a day on the campus of the University of Iowa—the Writing University—taking creative writing classes with graduates of our renowned writing MFA programs?
Here’s what your day could look like:
Try new genres: workshops in fiction, poetry, nonfiction, TV writing, playwriting, and translation
Develop your craft: go to short classes focused on craft and feedback
Find your people: connect with other high school writers
Explore campus: located in Iowa City, a UNESCO City of Literature
Space is limited. We keep the group small on purpose, so you get more personal attention. To apply, you’ll submit a short form, a statement of intent (tell us why you want to come!), and a brief note of support from an English or creative writing teacher.
The event is free and lunch is provided.
